A notification channel tells Gloria where to deliver alerts, and a recipient is the person or address that receives them. This page covers delivery channels and recipients; /docs/notifications/ covers Canary alert conditions such as downtime, elevated error rates, and cost spikes.
Set up an email channel
- You can do this from the project dashboard. Open Settings → Alerts, choose Add channel, and select Email.
- Enter a clear channel name. A focused name such as
OperationsorBillingmakes the alert source easy to recognize. - Complete verification for the address. Gloria only delivers alerts to verified email addresses.
- Attach the channel to the project. Once you attach it and complete verification, alerts begin automatically.
Verify the live path
- Choose Send test message for the email channel.
- Confirm that the message lands in the target inbox and that the channel shows as ready to use.
- If the test reports that no deliverable recipients exist, verify an address or add a subscriber, then try again.
Other channels
Gloria also offers Slack, Discord, webhooks, and PagerDuty today. Open Settings → Alerts, choose Add channel, pick the channel type, and fill in the form that appears.
- Slack: connect the Slack destination the form asks for, then save it.
- Discord: connect the Discord destination the form asks for, then save it.
- Webhooks: enter the endpoint and any subscription details the form asks for, then save it.
- PagerDuty: connect the PagerDuty service the form asks for, then save it.
Each channel offers a test action, use it before you rely on the channel.
